She has served in executive roles on the board of NAMI Charlotte, including as President, helping to shape and support community mental health initiatives.
Sara’s passion is deeply personal. She grew up in the 1970s and 80s watching her mother struggle with severe mental illness at a time when diagnoses were misunderstood, treatments were limited, and stigma silenced many families. “Back then, you didn’t talk about it—you hid it,” she reflects.

Later in life, Sara faced her own mental health challenges. Unlike her mother, she was fortunate to have access to more supportive resources. Through therapy, yoga, and meditation, she found a path to wellness. This healing journey not only transformed her life but fueled her commitment to making sure others don’t suffer in silence.
